Privacy & Cookie Policy
This policy explains what data The Desk Nook collects, why, and the choices you have. It is written to meet GDPR and CCPA/CPRA expectations and to satisfy the privacy-policy requirement of the Google AdSense program.
Consent comes first
When you first visit, we show a consent banner. No advertising or analytics scripts load until you choose “Accept.” If you choose “Reject non-essential,” the site remains fully readable and no ad or analytics cookies are set. Your choice is remembered for 180 days; you can change it any time by clearing the bw_consent cookie/site data, which brings the banner back.
Cookies we use
- Essential: a single preference cookie (
bw_consent) that remembers your consent choice. This is always set once you make a choice and carries no tracking value. - Advertising (only after consent): Google AdSense may set cookies to serve and frequency-cap ads and to measure performance. See Google’s “How Google uses information from sites that use its services.”
- Analytics (only after consent): if enabled, privacy-respecting analytics measure aggregate traffic. Nothing loads before consent.
Advertising
We display ads through Google AdSense. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on prior visits to this and other websites. You can opt out of personalised advertising via Google Ads Settings and aboutads.info.
Affiliate links
Some outbound links are affiliate links. Following one may set a cookie on the destination retailer’s domain (for example, Amazon) so any purchase is attributed to us. That is governed by the destination’s own privacy policy. See our affiliate & AI disclosure.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of your personal data, to withdraw consent, and (CCPA/CPRA) to opt out of “sale”/“sharing.” We do not sell your personal information. To exercise any right, contact us at hello@thedesknook.com.
Data we collect directly
We only receive personal data you choose to give us — for example an email address if you subscribe to our newsletter (double opt-in), or the contents of a message you send us. We use it only for the purpose you provided it.
Children
This site is intended for general audiences and is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal data.
Changes & contact
We may update this policy; material changes will be reflected here. Questions? Email hello@thedesknook.com.
